Khel Sang Samvidhan Mahotsav

The genesis of this Mahotsav traces back to a simple, impassioned request from the children in Patna: they wanted a cricket tournament of their own. When DEVISE organized the Tilka Manjhi Khel Diwas to fulfill that wish, the day unlocked something far deeper than recreation.

We observed children who had retreated from learning and distanced themselves from classrooms following traumatic, destabilizing events in their lives begin returning to our learning centres. The field offered a bridge back when books alone felt distant.

Most movingly, there was a thirteen-year-old girl who had become quietly fascinated by the idea of early marriage. In her daily reality, a wedding was the only imaginable milestone where she would ever be the center of attention—the sole occasion held entirely about her. Stepping onto the cricket ground that day, running between wickets and cheered on by her peers, she found a joyful, fraternal public space where she was seen, valued, and celebrated simply for who she was. She was drawn back into her childhood, realizing her story did not have to jump straight to marriage. That discovery made one truth undeniable: sports and shared play are not diversions from constitutional awareness; they are the fertile ground where fraternity, equality, and voice are first experienced.
